بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيم Bismillah-ir-Rahman-ir-Rahim (In the Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Most Kind). Forty Hadith An-Nawawi in English and Arabic Forty Prophetic Traditions compiled by Yahya ibn Sharaf An-Nawawi Hadith 2: Foundations of the Sunnah Umar ibn Al-Khattab reported: We were sitting with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, one day when a man appeared with very white clothes and very black hair. There were no signs of travel on him and we did not recognize him. He sat down in front of the Prophet and rested his knees by his knees and placed his hands on his thighs. The man said, “O Muhammad, tell me about Islam.” Islam is to witness that there is no God but Alla...

Holy Ka'aba in Saudi Arabia

The Ka’ba was the most important holy place in Arabia even in pre-Islamic times; it contained hundreds of idols representing Arabian tribal gods and other religious figures, including Abraham, Jesus, and Mary. It is a massive cube believed to have been built by the Prophet Abraham and dedicated to al-Lah (The God who was the same God worshipped by the Jews and Christians); it stands in the center of the Sanctuary in the heart of Mecca. Embedded in the Ka’ba’s granite matrix is the famous Black Stone, which tradition says was originally cast down from Heaven as a sign for Adam. The Zam-Zam holy well is nearby and is believed to have quenched the thirst of Hagar and her child in the wilderness. (Genesis 21:19). Arabs from all over the peninsula made an annual pilgrimage to Mecca, performing traditional rites over a period of several days. Mohammad eventually destroyed all the idols in and around the Ka’ba, and re-dedicated it to the One God, Allah, and the annual pilgrimage beca...

Tajweed Lesson One, Part: 2. Learn Arabic Alphabet (28 Arabic letters and it's pronunciation )

In this lesson, we will learn the Arabic Alphabet In-Shā’-Allâh (God Willing). The lesson is designed to teach the names of all the alphabets. Please note that some of these letters are very similar to English letter sounds e.g.: /Bā’/ is very close to the letter 'B' in the English language, this is a useful way to remember the sounds of the letters. However many letters have no equivalent sounds in English e.g.: /ξayn/, and some letters have subtle but important differences in pronunciation, e.g.: /Hā’/ which is pronounced with a lot more emphasis in the throat than the letter 'H' in English. In Arabic, it is preferred to use the 'tanween' ('un') to clarify the pronunciation - especially on the final letter of a word. For example - instead of /Bā’/ you have to say 'Bā-un'. The letter name is still /Bā’/ but have to use the 'un' to clarify the pronunciation. Please note that the Arabic script is read from right to left. Pleas...
